I have been baking sourdough for several years and love recipes that are not simply bread. The recipes in this book stretch the scope of sourdough further. Particular favourites that I go back to again and again are the Traditional GInger Cake - devine - and the Garlic and Rosemary Bundt Focaccia.

I have several other sourdough books by Vanessa Kimbell but this book stands on its own. There is a lot of information, clear explanations, tips and troubleshooting. So many variables can impact your sourdough bakes, such as the temperature of your kitchen, the flour you are using, whether your starter is active enough. I still have occcasional sourdough 'fails' and this book can certainly help you understand when things go wrong - or right! - and help you improve your sourdough baking and be more consistent.

10 minute sourdough? Yes, once you understand the process, with a little preparation and planning ahead. The author explains clearly how, with lots of visuals too. There is a rhythm to baking sourdough. If you are new to sourdough then take time to read and understand the process.

It’s a good book for people who already know what they are doing but not easy to follow if your a new beginner you have to keep going back and forward to pages which took me a while to get my head round and still haven’t managed to get the perfect loaf yet but keep trying

I became a mum a few
Months ago and with a baby there is no time to spend a lot of time with the dough.
I really wanted to get back into bread baking and Vanessa’s book came just at the right time.
Two things (out of so many) I particularly love are:
The recipe structure is always the same, no matter whether it’s a cake or bread recipe and it doesn’t require any work during the day, only in the mornings and evenings.
It goes with the seasons. Starting in autumn with the new harvest of grains, you find so many wonderful recipes with produce of all seasons, perfect to share with family and friends.

I’m an experienced sourdough bread baker and still get a lot out of this book. Even for beginners it is perfect as the book explains everything you need to know in sufficient, yet not to much detail.

I have been growing my own starter whilst grappling with literature on how to get a good sour dough. I’ve watched the youtube videos, written easy lists, and planned away with mild terror before even making one loaf. My husband has had several failed attempts too.
This book is genius, the idea of five master recipes to do first, in order is clearly masterful teaching. I had a tin loaf to PERFECTION on day one and a vanilla and ho eh cake to die for on day two! I’m now ordering two hardback copies of the book, 9ne for my bookshelf one for my son in law.

I think this book is full with ideas and it is beautiful, I love how it devided in to seasons. I was looking for guidelines on how to make sourdough bread with out handling it so much and this book is perfect for that., I can understand how I might use the methods and switch up the flavours. I also so happy about the sourdough cake. We can make a cake with no need to add baking soda or powder. First time for me to see this kind of cake recipes. definitely one a great and creative soudough book that will increase my ability to bake sourdough bread and cakes. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge

I know everyone went a bit sourdough mad during lockdown last year, but it's one of those things we often think we don't have time for. In this book, the author has shared a simplified and pared-down technique for making sourdough with very little effort. The bread still proves overnight, but refreshing your starter and mixing the dough is all done within ten minutes. I've followed the author's suggestion to work your way through the master recipes, beginning with the easiest bakes (tinned loaves), so that by the time you get to the more challenging things like boules, you have a good understanding of the process and can get a feel for things like knowing when your starter is active enough for baking, how the temperatures work in your kitchen, how your own oven behaves, etc.

As well as the master recipes there are some really great variations, with some delicious sounding recipes. I've been really pleased with everything I've made so far and I'm looking forward to trying more.

Apart from the other books about sourdough Vinessa has written- they have been life changing too. All three of her books have been ground breaking for me and my health and joy of food I didn’t think i could eat anymore. I have all her books and they have changed my life and attitude towards what i eat, how i cook and where i get my food from! Definitely the queen of sourdough and knowledge of grain nutrition.
Great photography, great recipes, easy to follow. Taken me a while to get ingredients together but sooo worth it. I am also a member of her sourdough club, which is worth every penny!

Every single recipe that I have made from this book so far has been incredible. It really has only taken me around 10 minutes to prepare each thing the night before, and throw in the oven the next morning for an amazing gut-nourishing bread. This is how bread should be-accessible and good for your whole body. This is a great place to start, or even advance to in whole grain, diverse ingredient baking!

Every single recipe that I have made from this book so far has been incredible. Firstly there are some interesting recipes in this book. However I personally find the instructions confusing, I had to find a good YouTube to make sense of the boule recipe. The 10 minute sourdough title is totally misleading, preparing a loaf is really quite an intensive experience. I it took seven days to prepare my sourdough starter, feeding it twice a day. Although once this is done, all you need to do is to feed, maybe once a week it to keep it alive. To bake a basic sourdough boule takes a full day and the following morning. It is very tasty and worth the work.
If you are very used to preparing the recipes I imagine each individual stage of baking a recipe, when added up might take ten minutes, but it’s not easy to do any significant tasks between the stages.
Two stars given because of the misleading title and confusing me, not the very tasty bread.
