Wanted to like this so badly

I'm very wary of buying books now because they've gotten so expensive, especially YA. So I always wait to hear good things, and this definitely had good reviews. But of course I didn't like, which is annoying. I truly am disappointed. Great cover, good writing, but the heroine was just annoying and so few characters had anything likable. She just constantly shows up everywhere, as if its so dang easy to get into this secret club all the time. Seriously, it's absurd how easy it is for her to infiltrate this club. The logic of the club members and the heroine, do not make sense. These people are powerful killers, but she walks on in like its not big deal & automatically assumes she can take them on. And I get that her mom died. It's sad. But that doesn't give you a right to treat everyone like crap, which she does repeatedly, even her best friend. So yeah, I quit about 30% in. I might go back and finish it, and will change my ranking if I end up liking it. But as of now, I don't have any interest in continuing to read it and I feel I gave it a fair chance.

I was so excited to read this. And I listen and read the book simultaneously sometimes. I was not a huge fan of the narrator. She made the main character sound really whiny, and the narrator as a whole sounded pained throughout the whole book.

The story as a whole was so incredibly slow for me for the majority of the book. I felt like this book could be condensed to half of what it is. And the print was so so small.

The concept was good, although I’m not a huge Arthurian retelling fan (I gave it a shot because this book was highly recommended). I was hoping the main character would grow a bit more to finally and truly accept her power, and I didn’t really feel like that happened at the end, not enough to give me chills. I feel like the power was given to her prematurely.

I am going to read the second book because the second book in a series sometimes end up being better in my experience, especially when you get world-building out of the way.

I really did want to like this book. Too much "tell" and not enough "show". More teenaged fanfiction. Characters are a little too one dimensional. Main character seemed more interested in her hair.

**SPOILER ALERT** Not really crazy about the concept that someone's life didn't really start until an ancestor was assaulted by some white guy. Really doesn't matter who they are (or where), there were dozens of better ancestor beginnings.

The world building was difficult and it was so hard to get into the story. Couldn’t bother to read it at all because everything felt so unrealistic as well.
The main character was also far too young for the story which made it even more weird.

The idea behind this was promising but I couldn’t help but remain highly confused throughout. The legend of Arthur are English, & I think it’s really tenuous that this all takes place in the USA. It’s a bit random. Good idea but not sure it clicked & made sense for me.

I was unaware this was an YA book. Teenage tantrums are not my thing. Wasn't about them when I was one. Really tried to enjoy it because fantasy is my genre but the heroine was just too annoying. Gave it eight chapters. That's enough.

This book is absolutely wonderful! But this version of the paperback does not have the bonus content advertised to come in the paperback version. You have to go to the author’s profile and order the book listed there for that version of the book. That version gets 5 out of 5 stars. I just wished I would have realized this listing was different before ordering.

Was expecting this to be unique, but it was just a promo for root work, and the dark art wrapped up in an inversion of the Arthur legend. Which I honestly believe, needs to be left alone. Its a legend for a reason, better to create a new narrative than co-op someone else's story. Was left really disappointed.

I was just getting into the book when it skipped from page 58 to 91, with those missing pages no where else in my copy. As it goes with books I bought it back in May and am just now reading it with a closed return window. I am super bummed as I was really hoping to read this book.

O produto veio sem estar no plástico. A jacket é linda mas achei a qualidade do livro péssima, folhas finas e parecem até ser de jornal, passo a mão e sai bolinhas do papel. Tenho livros de 300 paginas brasileiros que pesam mais que esse de 500 paginas. Foi minha primeira compra de livros importados e me decepcionei na qualidade, prefiro comprar a versão brasileira que é mais barato. Pra quem se importa só com a historia e não com a qualidade então pode comprar, ainda não li mas parece que o livro é muito bom e foi muito aclamado por todo mundo que leu.
