As always with a Sandra Brown book this one was a page turner. I loved the story as well as the intrigue. It kept my interest all of the way through. Hated to see the story end.

I purchased this for a Secret Santa gift and she absolutely loved it. She's read other books by Sandra Brown and hasn't been disappointed yet. She's read Overkill within a week and has already moved on to this one and so far is finding it enjoyable.

Sandra Brown is a must-read for me. She is one of my favorite writers. I couldn’t pass on Thick as Thieves. I'm extremely thankful to Grand Central Publishing for my early copy.

In Thick as Thieves, a heist gone wrong, a murder, and a father’s disappearance twenty years ago are at the center of the story.

Arden Maxwell decides to move back to her family home when she realizes she is pregnant. Her home has been isolated and left unkept since her father disappeared that awful night twenty years ago. Arden might not realize it at the beginning but she is looking for answers. After tragedy strikes, she is determined to find out more about her father's disappearance and it seems like Ledge Burnet might have some or all of the answers.

Life has not treated Ledge Burnet fairly. He lost his parents at an early age and his uncle and his wife took him in. Soon after, his aunt died and it just became the two of them. Ledge was placed in juvie for smoking marijuana. An error he's not going to repeat until the night Arden's father disappears and he is being taken to jail after he's stopped by cops and drugs are found in his car. Ledge is certain he was framed two decades ago and he, as much as Arden, wants to know the truth.

As with the majority of the books by Sandra Brown I've read, this one is a page-turner. The suspense was killing me. Some things I guessed, some others took me by surprise.

Mrs. Brown can write great enemies. In this case, Rusty was an evil man with too much power and a hateful soul. It was so easy to hate him.

My sole complaint would be the ending. Everything resolved too neatly for me. Anyway, the end was not enough for me not to enjoy it.

Sandra Brown can absolutely turn out a good read! The characters were believable and real. And the plot was genius. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was the overly detailed sex scenes. Totally unnecessary, in my humble opinion. But the whodunit was nothing short of amazing. I thought that I had it all figured out but I was so wrong! The denouement was delightful. I was stunned! I read a lot, and I really appreciate the cleverness of this plot. If you are a constant reader of this author, you know that her novels always have a real ending...no cliffhangers by this author - ever. But Sandra Brown outdid herself with this one! A great story recommended for mature readers.

I am a HUGE fan of Ms Brown’s. I read all of her stuff and honestly her romance novels are some of my favorite novels of all. And this one was going sooo great!!! Good flawed, likable characters, palatable chemistry and tension, good intrigue with the murder mystery, whodunit but then the plot twist at the end... without giving too much away just ruined it to me. If I was Arden, I would rather life before the plot twist. Also, something that Ms. Brown sometimes struggles with, in my humble opinion, is if someone is going through a huge trauma, like a stillborn birth of a baby, much less what happens later in the story, I find the romance part hard to wrap my head around. I didn’t feel like Arden had come to terms with the loss of her daughter and that entire plot line was all kinda weak and unnecessary to me. And for her to be feeling all happy and romantic with Ledge just felt too forced, especially at the end. That being said, the book was well written, I devoured it and look forward to more from Ms Brown. If you can find them, read all of her earlier romance novels. They’re great!

I have been devouring Sandra Brown books ever since I picked up Fat Tuesday back in 2000. Thick As Thieves kept me turning pages well past my bedtime, as I wanted--no, needed--to find out what happened next. It was typical Sandra Brown with the two main characters of Ledge Burnet and Arden Maxwell starting off pretty much wanting nothing to do with the other. I thought the story was intriguing and I didn't see the twist coming, and I liked the flashbacks (which are clearly noted and easy to follow). I loved the book but just thought the ending was a little too "pat." I wanted to know a little more of HOW everyone was involved. This will probably be one of Sandra's books that I re-read a few times. As always, I look forward to her next book!
