Storie meravigliose!

Non immaginavo potessero essere così entusiasmanti.
Il linguaggio e il tono narrativo sono davvero piacevoli e anche il mio bambino è felicissimo quando leggo queste storie.
E' davvero un modo leggero e divertente per raccontare personaggi (donne) che hanno lasciato un segno nella storia o per conoscerne di nuove.
Lo trovo un libro adatto per qualsiasi età, per mamme, bambini, ma anche semplicemente per chi vuole leggere storie reali pur con il sorriso.
La formula molto short (ciascuna biografia è lunga una pagina) è molto comoda per letture della sera o comunque per letture occasionali tutte le volte che si vuole. Inoltre ciascuna storia è corredata da citazione e illustrazione del personaggio.
Consigliatissimo per tutti, anche per gli uomini!

Bene scrivere che le donne possono fare quello che vogliono, ma mi sembra che questo libro dia alcuni messaggi sbagliati nel modo sbagliato.... i disegni però sono stupendi

Bellissima idea originale

Noi abbiamo la versione cartacea di entrambi i libri e mia figlia che ha 6 anni spesso mi chiede di leggergliene una a caso. Ha capito l'importanza del vaccino grazie alla storia di Bebe Vio, trova forte la Cristoforetti che vola nello spazio e anche per me che leggo ho scoperto curiosità su donne famose che non conoscevo! Alla luce di questo trovo questa raccolta geniale, bella ed educativa e versatile per varie età! L'unico rammarico che non ci sia la versione ebook in italiano considerando che le autrici lo sono e non capisco proprio perché ci sia solo la versione in inglese

I was really excited when I found this book, I ordered it after minimal research and was so excited to read it that I began trying to find some excerpts online. I found a few and was really surprised that the message I was hoping to give my 7 year old was either off mark, confused, or non-existent. So disappointed, this quote sums it up the book perfectly:

“To the rebel girls of the world:
Dream bigger
Aim higher
Fight harder
And, when in doubt, remember
You are right”

What? You had me all the way up to the last line, but “you are right?” That’s how you finish it? That’s how I see this book, the idea is there, some of the content is even there, but it was executed so poorly that it ruins the whole thing for me. Perhaps there’s another author who can take this premise and stick the landing, cause this just leaves you wondering who edited this thing.

Losing pages and strong chemical smell

The book itself has nice graphics and briefly describes many interesting women from the past and present. I was, however, disappointed to note a strong chemical smell which has not lessened over the several months for which we have owned this book. The smell transfers onto hands and our rule with this book has become wash hands after reading, which is ridiculous. Pages have also started coming loose. This was not a cheap book, and I am extremely disappointed. I would not recommend purchasing online.

Exceptionally disappointed in this - whilst some of the illustrations/drawings of the women mentioned in the book were lovely, the book is so superficial. Nothing in this would inspire or motivate a young girl or any child as far as I am concerned, I know I won't be sharing it with family and if I had kids this book would not be on my bookshelf.

I also had issues with some of the women missed out - I know that all books like this will have omissions, but some of the omissions like that of Mary Seacole just sat uncomfortably with me, especially since Florence Nightingale was mentioned (I would say more but that will lead to a whole other rant).

There are one or two women in this book that I didn't know about and who I am looking up further, as I am curious - only reason for the two stars.

I've finished this frowning in displeasure. Luckily this was a 99p e-book, but in all honesty, I so wish I could return.

The stories are great. The book itself isn’t the problem. But when I took it out of the box, there was what looked like a powdery substance on it. I tried to wipe it off but it didn’t come off. The book was also very sticky. I had to spend a while trying to clean it and was pretty grossed out since I had no idea what I was even touching.

A bit disappointed about this order. Book was mushed at bottom of spine, like it had been dropped and the ribbon is completely worn out. Will likely just fall apart so considering cutting it off. It doesn’t not seem like a new product.

This is a good book for the most part. However the binding seems weak. Just ONE day after the book was received, it started to fall apart. This was a few weeks ago. Now the book is being held together the tape!

Also there is one story so far that introduced content I was not ready to expose my 6 year old to. Would have preferred if a forewarning was given.

I had high hopes for this book. Unfortunately the writing is just...okay. 10th grade level maybe, with vague summaries of each woman’s life. It’s not interesting or engaging.

That would have made me rate it like a 3 or 4. Here’s why it’s a 2: the quote in the front of the book. “When in doubt remember: you are right.”

I think to grow you must be self-critical - to a point. If you never believe you’re wrong, then you will never learn a damn thing.

overall, I really liked the concept of the book. However, some facts are just incorrect. Moreover, they "straightwashed" certain figures like Virginia Woolf, who is described in the book as "happily married to a man", which -even if you know just the bare minimum about her-, is completely disregarding her sexuality (Vita Sackville-West, Orlando anyone?) . If you choose to write a book for "rebel girls", why don't you embrace all aspects of diversty and include sexuality as well? Or if you don't, at least don't change the sexual orientation of historical figures to acurately depict the existing diversity in the world?.....just sad and disappointing, would not raccomend.
