Prairie Creek, Wyoming is the setting for this thriller about the feud between two ranching families, The Dillingers and The Kincaids. Twenty years ago a fire destroyed the family home of the Dillingers and for years they blamed the wrong person. Now the patriarch of the Dillinger family, who recently lost his wife, is getting married to a much younger woman much to the displeasure of his adult children, and the fires are starting back up again.

But it isn't only fires that are starting up.

Amber Barstow was passing through town. She was on her way home from a disastrous weekend at her boyfriend's house. That one choice to stop at the one bar in Prairie Creek would be her worst choice. He was there and he was waiting. The killer.

When the entire Dillinger family makes their way home for the wedding the killer strikes. The family is terrorized.

This book is divided into three parts. Part I is written by Lisa Jackson; Part II is written by Rosalind Noonan; and Part III is written by Nancy Bush. Though this must have been an interesting project for the authors, I believe that it didn't quite do the story justice. Because of the different styles and voices of the authors I felt a complete disconnect with the characters. And frankly, there were just so many characters to keep track of. There were characters that I really wanted to get to know better but they seemed to have fallen by the wayside when a section of the book was finished by one author and taken over by another.

Watch out for the character of Kit. She is actually the best character of the book and I truly wish that more would have been written about her.

Even though this book is in the "Thriller" genre it contains a lot of romance stories. It isn't that the romances are in any way uninteresting, it is instead that there are just too many of them.

Giving credit where credit is due, the book was engrossing. If you are a fan of books with graphic details of murder scenes, then this book may be something that you're looking for.

Almost seamless between inter changing authors, Bush has a bit grittier and colder prose and no sympathy shown for murder victims The three could be three book series. Great characters, original and no put down read.

I enjoyed this book very much and felt that the authors did a good job of continuing the story. My only complaint is that in the Kindle edition, there was no separation when the characters changed. For example, Rikki would be the subject of several paragraphs or pages, then it would change to Hunter with no separation - even an extra space would have made it easier to read. Several times when this happened I had to go back and re-read the paragraph once I realized it was no longer Rikki (or whoever).

First I have to say this book was a little predictable BUT, I loved Delilah and Hunters relationship by far the best!! Could have built the other 2 a bit more but I gave tears.

three authors, three stories, one family, one story line

For 2 decades this family has been fixated on teenage love affairs. Incapable of emotionally moving forward, caught in an unrealistic memory of perfect love. Now the clan is gathered together for their 60 something father's marriage to a woman half his age - a woman who went to school with his daughters and is the mother of his own 11 year old grandson. Add some rather nasty murders, arson, an extended family, a feud with a neighboring family ... The possibilities are limitless.

All three of the authors have provided me with hours of entertainment, so I hold them to high standards. They did a reasonable job of combining the story line into the romances. The mystery / mysteries were well developed. But I keep dwelling on the characters dwelling on their past loves. REALLY? One character had married and had a child, both the spouse and child were easily dismissed. Another believed their long lost partner had cheated with a ex and possibly was an arsonist, but they were groping each other within minutes of meeting after almost two decades.

Some of the side characters were interesting. A teen girl, half wild, possibly autistic, who knows more about animals than the local vet, and lives in the wild. A 14 year old who hates everyone except a glamorous aunt who lives in California.

I enjoyed the book, but am not impressed. In fact, I'm disappointed. If I wasn't accustomed to better from these writers I might not have been so judgmental.
