4,0 su 5 stelle Third book and darkest

If you haven't read the previous books in this series DON'T start with this one. Although, it starts where the previous book left off it took awhile to sort out who everyone was in Frieda' s life. Frieda herself wants to withdraw from everything and everyone around her. She is no longer working with the police so the murder of nice, middle-aged, mother of three has Karlson and Yvette being aided by Hal Bradshaw. Hal is perusing his private vendetta against Frieda. Whilst a journalist's campaign to gain an innocent man's release leads him to question who did kill the young girl victim?
Wednesday is often the most difficult day of the week which ends with the feeling of relieve that it is over. Hopefully, Frieda can start to regain some control of her life in the next book. Although the lives of other characters can never be the same again.

2,0 su 5 stelle Annoying

One of the few books I have ever given up on. Does not stand alone as there are constant references to the previous books. Many mistakes in police procedure. Freida was particularly annoying. Was she really so pathetic and stupid as to allow the personal space of her home to be taken over by others? A load of pathetic, self obsessed moaners. Not one likeable character.

4,0 su 5 stelle Good read

The third book in the Freida Klein series by the husband and wife writers Sean French and Nicci Gerrard.
This series just gets better and better. Fast paced with lots of twists and turns.
I do think it is important to read this series in order as it may not make a lot of sense otherwise. There is a lot of references to the earlier books and I am convinced that by reading them in order will only improve the enjoyment. On finishing this book I instantly started the next book in the series that I have almost completed in one day.

3,0 su 5 stelle Not as gripping as the first two
Recensito nel Regno Unito il 5 luglio 2014

Before the Frieda Klein books, I had a love-hate relationship with Nicci French. Some of their books I loved, others I felt were really weak - characters were usually well-written, but the plots were in some cases laughable. I'd be interested to know which of them had the biggest say in working out the plots of the books I didn't like so much...
Anyway, the first two Frieda books - loved them. Frieda came across as the kind of character we've all met before in fiction and onscreen - the psychiatrist/psychotherapist who has more problems than his or her clients. But she was darker and more complex and I found her intriguing. I could see the end of the first book coming but that didn't ruin it for me. Similiarly, I enjoyed the second book, too.
I bought this book and Thursday's Children to take on holiday a few weeks ago and read them back to back. I think now that was a mistake. I didn't enjoy them as much as the first two - in fact, I found them somewhat depressing, especially 'Thursday's Children' - and it was also fairly easy to guess what was going to happen at the end of both of them. I can't say too much because of spoilers, but if you've read the others, you'll guess the ending of at least one of them. The characters are also starting to grate on me, even Frieda herself and her enigmatic decisions that are sometimes never explained. In 'Waiting for Wednesday' the detective, Karlsson, is investigating the murder of Ruth Lennox, a seemingly ordinary wife and mother, and virtually every character he interviews is rude and aggressive towards the police. Consequently the 'voices' of the characters often sound far too similiar. The supporting cast of characters - Josef, Reuben, et al - are also starting to get on my nerves slightly. I find French's portrayal of teenage kids particularly irritating - and yes, I know teens can be annoying - but still...
Having said that, this isn't a bad book. It's just a bit of a disappointment after the first two.

5,0 su 5 stelle Gripping read! Fantastic Series and another brilliant book!

This series of books follows a Psychotherapist; Frieda Klein.
I love this series of books.
Frieda's thinking keeps you gripped and adds twists
to the story that most people wouldn't imagine.
Frieda had been attacked in the previous book
and is still healing from the physical and mental side of this.
Her niece introduces her to her friend Ted.
His mum has been recently murdered and the case
hasn't been solved yet.
Frieda ends up entangled in everyting.
Although the police have been told not to use her
services anymore, her friendship with DCI Karlsson
means that she can help them to find the real killer.
I really enjoyed this book!
So much so that I instantly bought the next book in the series.
I enjoy Frieda's character and the way it pulls
you through the story.
The story grips you and wants you to read more and more.
This is a fantastic series with much more than just
a who done it.

4,0 su 5 stelle Waiting for Wednesday - feel that I'm waiting for Dean ...
Recensito nel Regno Unito il 21 luglio 2013

The third book in the series which started with 'Blue Monday' - while not as good as the book which kicked off the series - was IMO of a roughly similar quality to the second book 'Tuesday's gone'. Initially I wasn't sure how the writing duo would get a whole series out of this premise, given that we the readers knew that Dean Reeve the disturbing psychopath whom Frieda encountered in the first book was still at large - and what interim plots could possibly match the menace which Dean exuded in the first novel?

Well the answer seems to be to fill the books with multiple storylines, with Dean occasionally making an appearance. Here we have the murder of a suburban housewife which kicks off the novel - we also have the parallel tale of the missing girls whom a retired hack is investigating and all the strands of Frieda's life - her long distance relationship with Sandy, her friends, Josef and Sasha, her sister in law Olivia and niece Chloe, her ongoing rivalry with Bradshaw, her persecution by the media - etc etc. This isn't an easy read you really need to be paying attention or you miss something significant. It's also as another reader mentioned a bit of a downer. Poor old Frieda - still suffering from injuries inflicted in the last book - is besieged on all sides - persecuted by the media and Bradshaw, separated from her lover - and having to put with her home being invaded by bratty teenagers. I like Frieda and I really hope that her luck improves in the next book.

It is very fast paced and entertaining but I really wonder how much longer they can keep it going? I find myself looking forward to the next one just to see if the Dean storyline is resolved ...

5,0 su 5 stelle Book 3 - a perfect follow on..

Frieda Klein continues to defy the rational rules of thinking, instead she listens to her heart and head and blindly but positively follows her thoughts to their ultimate goal. Another wonderful story in this series which swept me along a roller coaster of emotions - truly brilliant writing.

I'm really enjoying this series. Psychotherapist Frieda Klein may be a difficult character to like but her vulnerability and overriding desire for peace made me sympathise in spades. She's obsessive, a loose cannon that drives the police crazy, but I invariably find myself rooting for her every step of the way. I loved the multiple story lines, and although I guessed who the killer was early on (I'm a crime writer, so I'd expect to have a bit of an inside track!) I still enjoyed the trail of clues. The love story between Frieda and Sandy is deftly handled and rather sweet. I'm looking forward to the next book, very much.

I've now read the first four Frieda Klein novels and loved them all.
This book has the same style and prose which is great otherwise there is no series and what a series it is.
It's impossible spot say this is the best of the four but personally I feel it is. Quite a complicated book and ,as usual , many faceted but a gripping read which I had to give myself a break and not finish too quickly.
As other reviewers have commented it's best to start with the first and read through the series .
