This book confirms what I have thought to be the truth for a very long time even before my teenage years, the world as we know it is a game of illusions and deception rigged from the start in favour of those who have had the power and wealth for millenia; sure every now and then a newcomer is allowed into the ranks to replenish the gene stock and keep up the appearance of fair play but as was spoken in William Shakespeare's Hamlet " There is more between heaven & earth Horatio than all your philosophies can foretell. "

Della is not a member of a formal Toltec lineage (as she states in the afterward), nor one to buy into 'nagual-ism' as a new religion. She does find much truth in those teachings and uses the language in order to convey her teachings. While the 'old Seers' were devastated during the invasion of the European barbarians, the 'new Seers' were refined and purified, bringing forth the essence of the ancient traditions. I believe we are now in the third phase, as the mechanical materialism has swept the world, We are the 'modern Seers'. Having access to all traditions and learning from anything we may. We are never trapped by one system.

Della uses language that varies from literary to poetic, as she tries to use our limited set of words to expand beyond the confines of ordinary awareness. I do not agree with everything she states, but then no one should ever fall into another person's path. She does not expect, and indeed warns, against such ways. There are times in the book which are very revelatory. It is always illuminating to See others on the path and the ways they understand. Of course, in the luminous realm, the mind and words fall away, so all these lyrical structures are support in the journey.

Note that she is not a quantum scientist. If you are looking for hard science, say the correlation of Bell's Theory to parapsychology PSI phenomena, it is not here. She even states 'my molecules' at one point, with no comprehension of the vastness of Avogadro number or the fluid exchange of molecules. She is a Seer living with awareness of the energy body. No person can judge another to say how advanced they are, but all the 'modern Seers' are contributing to open up the bubble of our society. This is the work we share. I look forward to reading more of her work.

"Diary of a Nagual Woman" could be called a translation, in the sense that mystics put into that word. Spiritual seekers worldwide and throughout the centuries perceived that their message may remain unheard, unless they always translated it into new tales and examples. This is a book that frees the reader from dogmas and models, suggesting that there is just one event that happens to mystics, only it is played out in a myriad situations.

Of course, one could always go fancy and choose the islamic mystics, or be loyal to Carlos Castaneda- but choose the Diary if you really believe it's not the veneer of exotic events and pretty Arabic vocabulary that matters. What matters is that everyday events could open up and become theophanies (for lack of a better word).

At certain points, the Diary became quite grim, countering the idea that earthly life is a harmless school, which after death would lead to a kindly debriefing with kindly spiritual beings. The Diary is a reminder that what happens on Earth is decisive and has consequences, and that there is no automatic bailout and a default Paradise at the end of life. Get the book so you could have a hint on what to do about the grim situation.

I'm giving the book five stars just because it is an excellent presentation of an ancient drive in modern terms. It avoids the trap of getting caught in language or traditions. Five stars, because it's the rare book that is bold enough to say that nothing is cut-and-dried, that life is a struggle in every moment and perhaps the boldest of all, that the struggle could have a result. The Diary hints at what the result could be.

This book can be read on a variety of levels. It might be a work of sleight of hand by the author. Is it real? Is it fiction? Is it a spiritual adventure? Is it a guide book? It's written well, and offers insights that are not mainstream, yet are also found in various philosophical systems, old and new. It's intriguing to find combined concepts of quantum physics with "ordinary" and not so ordinary living through the author's personal experiences. I find much of an allegorical nature. After all, did people argue with Dante about whether he really traveled through Hell and all seven levels of it? The author has a strong unblunted point of view, which, while I may not agree with everything, is nonetheless refreshing.

Your story resonates with me! I remember reading similar books, exploring different paths, and listening to new ways of thinking about 20 years ago, almost as though we were traveling in the same geographical circles - your path in the Joshua Trees, mine in more colder places - always questioning, looking down the path to one's own evolutionary self - the particle moment and the self in the quantum, the eternal now. Thank you for sharing your story, and I hope anyone who senses "there is something more out there" will read it!

Ok, there's a serious problem with this book: it's VERY difficult to stop reading it. Della should have written a 600 pages book so it would take longer to get through it. For the seekers, if you're in a journey to discover you inner power, you know it's probably no coincidence you're reading about this book. Yes, it's simple. No fancy language. Honest and straight to the point. But that's usually was seekers lack in other books. If you don't know what I mean by "seeker"... well, then maybe this book isn't for you. Thanks Della! :)

Della has had some interesting and powerful shamanic experiences. She is steeped in Castenada's teachings, so she sees things through that perspective. That's not bad, you just have to remember where she's coming from. She has yet to resolve many of the lessons she received, so the writing has a rather raw quality about it. I would be interested to see how she views these same experiences in say, another five years.

Impeccable. The best explanation of "the double" I have read. A blend of humor and seriousness from Della and Orlando. I was shocked to read that I was not the only one who set sail in Adventures in Paradise. Della follows her own path with heart, page after page

It's a fun story, but don't try to base a spiritual path on it. The chapter on Reincarnation will be a complete giveaway to any awake awareness.

The false self is not real, it's just a part of the equally unreal ego that holds beliefs, opinions and positions based upon manufactured memories. Check with any Neuroscientist, or any awakened Buddhist, Sufi, etc. Nothing of the ego can survive the death of the physical unit. There are no 'levels' of enlightenment.

The author apparently teaches this fiction in workshops and people probably pay her for it. Maybe someone should start classes based on Richard Bach's books too?

Della recounts her experiences of the nagual and then examines them in a reasoning manner. Extremely helpful to anyone who wants to make sense of the Castenada material. Finally I can integrate my previous notions of "higher self" with the nagual teachings. Many dots are connected now, and I feel a fresh impetus to my own path.
