Herbal Recipes for Vibrant Health by Rosemary Gladstar is a should-have for anyone interested in herbal or natural remedies because this author is the EXPERT. The book contains a varied collection of recipes and remedies in terms of conditions treated and types of products (salves, teas, oils, tinctures, etc.). The author’s instructions are easy to use and it is easy to see she has a passion for teaching and sharing her wisdom.

Recommendation: I bought this book to supplement what I had learned in my first book from Rosemary Gladstar, Medicinal Herbs (which is the book I would definitely start with). This book contains additional recipes and formulations, and I did not notice any repeated recipes. The recipes are accessible for even a beginner and the well-organized structure of the book makes it easy to find what you need. I highly recommend for anyone looking to make their own herbal products, especially if you are beginner or intermediate.

I’ve recently become intrigued with holistic health and my journey has brought me to herbs. This book has saved my life as it is easy to mistaken some flowers for others and calendula has a pretty toxic twin! I have tried 3 recipes from the book already and have only had it a couple of weeks! 10/10 recommend!

Rosemary Gladstars book is very well written, ---recipes are easy to follow with an explanation of ingredients that are used. It is very reasonably priced for the amount of knowledge---time and effort that was put into compiling this wonderful book. (plus it arrived at my door before its due delivery date)

I bought this book in hopes to learn some hearbal healing. I've been interested in herbal naturopathic medicine for quite some time, in an effort to find remedies to the many ailments my family and friends suffer from. In my family we've always gone yo the traditional western doctors, but in the past few years they have been failing us. In reality they have failed us for much longer I just didn't do anything about it. I finally got fed up ad decided I wanted to attend college and become a certified herbologist and midwife. So while I am doing my studies in those areas I decided to buy many different herbal healing books.
This book was one of them.
I give this book 5 stars because it is superbly written and well thought out. Each recipe is very detailed and useful. Many of the ailments mentioned and treated with natural medicine are ones my family and I suffer from, a few examples would be infertility, irregular periods, pain management, sexual impotence, headaches, common colds and flu, constipation, indigestion and so many many more. I can't even begin to name all the recipes in this book. Rosemary not only cover your basic everyday ailments but she also covers your more unusual ailments, one which my hubby had struggled with for months now and has been to embarrassed to go to a doctor about was actually mentioned in this book, I was able to help mix up an herbal remedy for him using the recipe in this book. I also have a child which like many kids has her own set of childhood issues, this book has many remedies for kids too and I can't wait to try some out and see how they work, especially the cold and flu remedies as we usually treat those with your conventional medicine, but now I really want to see how effective these remedies are. Rosemary does make sure to mention that these recipes were never intended to treat or diagnose an illness and it is no replacement for actual care from a dr. However I do believe this book will be a very effective tool in treating common issues and if your like me I think its a perfect companion to aid with conventional medicine, I've come to the conclusion in life that conventional medicine has its place and can be beneficial, but for common ailments the earth mother gas given us all we need and its best to try those medicines she offers us before we turn to the more invacive medicine offered in modern times.
In all I would highly recommend this book. I will be keeping this book close at hand.
One more thing Rosemary put together many herbal concoctions for a "hot date" night, there are recipes for love liquor, good life wine, men's long life elixir and energy balls, all of these recipes help the male libido as well as energize both male and females for a very romantic evening. I though that was a very nice addition to the book since as a married woman who is married to an older man I know how sometimes not everything wants to work like its supposed to either due to medications or just the days stresses, so this for me was a really wonderful addition and I honestly can say I did not expect it but it was a lovely surprise. I think the men folk will enjoy those recipes for sure who doesn't want to have a romantic evening with a loved one.

So that is my review. Thank you Miss Gladstar for this lovely book I do believe it is one I will holdonto forever.

This book has fantastic information and is really well written. I love the information more than the recipes actually.
But there is information in there that is plainly dated or dangerous.
-First: way too many recipes call for goldenseal. Although it's a fantastic plant, it's entagered status vulnerable, so not the best ethical choice to use in everything. Goldenseal was all the craze in the 80's so also shows this book is dated. Says use of available, but doesn't give any substitute.
-Second, you cannot, I repeat cannot make a two phase lotion ( water with oil) without some kind of full spectrum preservatives. She blames the bacteria on other things and states it cannot mold. Cannot be more wrong, 2 phase lotion without preservatives kept at shelf temperature is a bad idea and invitation for mold and bacteria. At home, do not make 2 phase lotion without a preservative of some sort you can now find natural ones even on amazon.
-Third: a bath with 2 cups borax? That's just asking for a disaster. Shows it's been written in 1989 and updated in 2001. Borax is toxic in large quantities and bathing in it, not a good idea. Borax has been banned in cosmetics in 2010. Seriously folks, don't do this. Replace the borax in the Recipe with Epsom salt, I even crossed borax out in my book with a pen and wrote Epsom salt next to it.

This book was clearly written for the USA market because many of the plants listed are not available in the UK, a fair few I've never even heard of (and I studied botanical plants)
For anyone in the USA, this is a nicely written book, possibly not for an outright beginner to herbalism, but for someone who already has a little knowledge it would be nice to add to their library.
