I love a good thriller but am often reading highly rated thrillers that are poorly written, and focus on a “gotcha” twist. This book kept me drawn in from start to finish, and while the ending has a bit of the typical thriller cliche twist, I still found it very creative and fun to read. As someone who relies heavily on reviews to pick my next book, I’d say this one is definitely worth reading.

This book was soooo good! I really enjoyed the pacing of the book and the cliffhangers and twists, I could not stop reading it! I was a little worried at first bc of the cover- it was so similar to a different well known book and I was afraid it might not be very original. However I genuinely found it really entertaining. I was really impressed with the handling of PTSD in the various characters, it seemed very authentically described. Some of the thoughts and feelings expressed by the characters I thought were really insightful and I found it impressive just how well the writer wrote from the various points of view. Most exciting book I’ve read in a while, outside of “The Drowning Kind” by Jennifer McMahon (another page turner I could not put down!) I can’t wait to see what else this author has up her sleeve bc this was a really, really good start!

Mysteries are my favorite be it written, TV or Film.

This is exceptional. The story is told by the characters with each ending their paragraphs at exactly the perfect moment to have the reader wanting more.

It is hard to imagine this is the authors first English written book. The written word, characters, locations perfectly created.

I was a bit disappointed with the ending. I think that is not the authors fault but I was so involved I can't think that any ending would have satisfied. Perhaps, I simply did not want it to end.

Yet, I HAD to know what happened. Who was the man in the cabin?

I chose rating because I felt excited to read and find out what would happen next. To see this life through Hannahs eyes. The end had many surprises that I didn't forsee as well. Parts were frustrating of how the girl that was abducted reacted in the end but it's remembering that not everyone reacts and handles situations the same and sometimes we can't control it either.

After struggling partway with the book, especially in the middle I read a few reviews that said it ended with too many unanswered questions. Maybe this prompted me to be more aware of the plot and read deeper into it. The questions were answered and I suspected during the final chapters in how going to Paris, meeting the Grandfather etc would be possible, you just had to open your mind and it's power over adversity. It went from a book, I nearly abandoned halfway to one I couldnt put down and will stay with me a long time.

What an emotional read. Like some other readers I just could not put it down. Each of the narratives throughout was spellbinding. I especially loved Hannah and the way she thought and spoke. My heart went out to her and her little brother. Totally credible, and I felt for every character in the book (except the baddy who got what he deserved). Lots of twists and turns, and a very surprising ending. Absolutely brilliant.

I was hooked on this book from start to finish. Which is saying something because for the past 5 years I havent found a book to get engrossed in.

The twists and turns kept me guessing.

I do have one question though and I'd love to hear what others think (slight spoiler comming up) Why did Lena not run away given that she did take Hannah out? And was it ever confirmed who was hannah biological father and is that perhaps why she was the favourite child?

This story is like a 1000 piece jigsaw, you find the corners & side pieces, and then slowly put together the centre pieces & create the picture, the actual story... Wonderfully put together and explained from all the interested parties from their emotional point of view. But with a blurred beginning, middle and end to the story as you read, but with hindsight when completed are very distinct!! The book is must to read for all thrillers lovers. A satisfying read, but just a little bit different. I loved it.
