Long winded, confusing and complicated. And that was just one of the characters. A disappointing read, I was confused from the beginning few chapters and had to re-read. I found this book long winded and agonisingly predictable- likened to a weak female tripping over I. The woods as she Ru a from her hunter. I’m gutted I didn’t enjoy this because I have nothing but praise for ‘Dear Child,’ which was in my opinion a fantastic read from beginning to end.
Onwards to the next!

I loved "Dear Child" so I was excited to read Romy Hausmann's next book. Unfortunately, this was a difficult read. Timelines jumped back and forth without much information and I was very confused for most of the book. I had to take notes to try to determine the characters and time frames that events occurred. Ultimately everything was clear in the end, but it was a difficult journey to get there. Romy Hausmann's writing continues to be great and I hope her next book has more clarity than this venture.

I purchased this book for a book club and I am grateful for the audio, as it was well done and the reason I was able get through the book. The book takes over 100 pages to start coming together and nearly all the characters are unlikable. Was not a fan of the betrayal of mental health. Overall, eh.

I received this book through a Goodreads Giveaway. It is the twisted story of several characters, all with unusual connections, histories and ideas of various levels of revenge. It is a bit too complicated at times, but slog on through. It will be worth it.

My book club chose this book last month for their selection. I had a very hard time getting interested in this book, but after nearly 100 pages, I finally understood what was going on. It was a cat mouse game clear to the end, which is not my favorite story line. I would put it just as a mediocre read. It was kind of a consensus of opinion that this was not a book we would recommend to our friends.

There's a story in there, but it is as if the author dropped the chapters on the ground, picked them up out of order, and published the book with a jumble of chapters that move forward, backward, focus on different characters and events, and it never quite coalesces.

This is another one of those 'all-over-the-place' novels: multiple timelines, different story threads, different protagonists, confusing italicised text, consistently poor decision-making, and mixed first and third-person accounts. In fairness, a little clarity does emerge halfway into the book, but the balance then becomes an uninteresting and very drawn-out, up-and-down tale. I found myself unable to like any of the characters, the plot elements, or the outcome(s). I'm sorry to say, the reader-reward is minimal given the time invested and the frustrations you are forced to carry.

Loved the writers previous book so looking forward to reading this one. The book was so confusing, very difficult to get into gave up in the end.
