It was the first book I read by this author and I fell in love with the storytelling and the style of writing.
A compelling, riveting, and gripping story. A page turner that kept me reading and I had to keep on reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen.
A great plot, excellent character development.
Highly recommended.

What I loved about this book was the idea of reliving seemingly random days of your life with the perspective of hindsight, paying much closer attention to those you live with, and the various backdrops you invariably take for granted. When our protagonist woke up in the nineties, just paying attention to people's clothing and hairstyles, and the typical British high street (it's all set around Liverpool) with the now defunct Woolworth's with its 'pick and mix' - made me ache with nostalgia. What I wouldn't give for a mini-excursion to just an ordinary day in the not so distant past! More than anything else, this book taught me to pay better attention, and value what we take for granted in all the days of our lives because it's changing constantly, imperceptibly, and you never know what you might lose. Gillian McAllister writes really well and the plot is somewhat suspenseful. There are some very persuasive scenes with convincing characters, especially the incredible poignance of visiting her father on the last day of his life. However, I had two gripes: one, I got a bit tired of her overly sentimental preoccupation with her son, and two, I was not convinced that anyone tumbling backwards through time would be so nonchalant. Jen, the protagonist, just plays along inhabiting her former self and trying to fulfil her role in that moment of her life while trying to solve the mystery that will avoid a future catastrophe. If it were me, I'd be completely unhinged. Still, if you suspend your disbelief and just go with the flow, it's a clever idea and well worth the read.

When I first saw a video of Gillian McAllister explaining the concept of Wrong Place Wrong Time, I was absolutely fascinated and I knew I had to read it. I've finally got around to reading it and I have no idea what took me so long - it's every bit as fascinating as I thought it would be. It really makes you think about how one small thing can change a much bigger thing and I was honestly transfixed the whole way through wondering how everything would work out.

Wrong Place Wrong Time starts on Day Zero in October 2022 and from there, the timeline travels backwards. The plotting and the use of the timeline is ridiculously clever and McAllister has considered many aspects of time travel that never even crossed my mind. I had wondered if such a complex concept would be difficult to understand, but the author describes everything in immaculate detail and always ensures the reader has time to catch up and follow exactly what is happening. Many of the chapters end on cliffhangers that really made my jaw drop and I loved the element of surprise.

I've read most of Gillian McAllister's novels now and with every one, her writing gets better and better. She is particularly gifted at describing the emotions of her characters and the relationships between them in such a way that I was able to relate to the way they were feeling and their reactions in certain situations. This really helped as different aspects of the characters were revealed to us.

Gillian McAllister is an author I always look out for and I can't wait to see what she does next!

I liked this book. Had a lot of plot twists, some I guessed, most I didn't.
But I had a few issues and that's why I only gave it 4 stars,maybe even 3.5 :
The pacing is a little slow.
I hate when women blame themselves all the time. It happens to many times in this book.
I have never seen so many - hyphens in my life.

Gillian McAllister somehow manages to work her complicated plot backwards through time. I've no idea how she kept track of all the threads, but she did - very successfully. I can only imagine a huge whiteboard with lots of arrows pointing backwards or forwards, and/or hundreds of podt-it notes! The idea behind 'Wrong Place Wrong Time' is refreshingly different from other mystery/thriller titles I've read recently, and has made me want to read more of her books

It was quite a surprise to find something different in a time travel based novel. The first chapter seemed like the standard plot
but it turned into a different type of mystery entirely. Confusing in some parts but surprises kept coming. Kept me reading past my bedtime. :)

Wrong Place Wrong Time is a 21st century masterpiece! Gillian McAlister has written a combination murder mystery, psychological thriller and time travel tale all in one! I'm a huge mystery, thriller reader and an English teacher and I was shocked and overwhelmingly pleased by this book like none other!
It's the story of Jen and the love that consumes her for her son Todd and her husband, Kelly. She, while waiting up for her teenager to get home witnesses him murder a stranger in her driveway. After dealing with his arrest, she goes to bed and wakes up the next morning a day earlier and comes to realize that the murder hasn't happened yet. But when she begins waking up further and further back in time, she knows that she must figure out why her brilliant son was driven to commit this terrible feed!
The story takes you on a journey back through Jen's past with her husband and son, trying to find out what went wrong!
I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys an intelligent mind bender of a mystery! You must read this book; must!
