HOMECOMING

The city shook, but it was not as bad as before. Zelenka could keep his feet easily enough, hanging on to the edge of the console.

The cameras fogged, vapor streaming past. A high cloud layer? Possibly. Probably. All systems were still green. The ZPMs’ power level was ticking downward, but not quickly. Fifteen per cent…fourteen per cent.

Thrusters fired again, tilting the city slightly, increasing the drag. The shield pulled more power to compensate. And the city slowed.

Ice. The cameras showed ice below, thousands of feet down to the north polar ice cap. They were wrapping around the world in a high polar sweep, bleeding speed as they went. Ice. Nothing but ice. Surely they would start seeing water now. He didn’t know how high they were. It all looked the same, sixty thousand feet or thirty thousand.

“You need to course correct,” Rodney said.

Mountains. Glaciated mountains. The planet’s largest landmass was embedded beneath the polar ice cap. Dark peaks streaked with snow. Surely they were too low. Surely…

Dopo la conclusione della serie e l'interruzione anche di Stargate Universe, l'universo è diventato un posto più noioso. Lo spirito dell'avventura e dell'esplorazione continua però grazie a questi libri della Legacy Series. Io sto per finire il primo ma vi posso assicurare che merita veramente. Si torna a sognare nella galassia pegasus.

Oh boy I have a pile of books that have sat there for months before this Stargate Atlantis Novel I had to read & you know what?
I skipped every single one of them to finish Book One of the Legacy Series...

Damn you Sci-Fi Urges/Teenage Years watching anything Stargate most days I came home from School!

Regardless of that little rant beforehand, this book is a good set up of what would have been (in my eyes) the official *Sixth Season of Atlantis* if it had ever graced our Television Screens when it signed off a decade ago now!

This is a start so far, Atlantis returns to Pegasus but getting the go ahead from the Bureaucrats on Earth was never gonna be plain sailing of course (I've never liked the IOA).

Once the team is back to help the Citizens of Pegasus who have been left to fend for themselves at the hands of a menacing new Wraith Queen called Death its all storylines (Sora of the Genii is back plus more of how the Wraith work as a Society) put in to place for what will be an exciting 8-Part series I am gonna get well & truly addicted to for sure.

Book Two is ordered as we speak...

To review this fairly one really needs to take in the whole 8-book arc, and the whole thing works very well indeed even if individual books have their longueurs or overplotting. Generally, anyone who enjoys the universe of Stargate and Stargate Atlantis will thoroughly enjoy the whole series. This one takes up where the T.V. left off and carries on seamlessly. There is a bit of toing and froing and setting up which can become a tiny bit tedious in order to get the city and our heroes back where they belong, but it all takes us to where we want to be. Fans will be delighted to see one couple that we had all waited to get together finally doing just that, another couple we always wanted to see together will be popping in and out, and the course of true love elsewhere may or may not run smooth. The characters are true to the series, and this really reads like Series 6, so well does if follow from what has gone before, bringing all the strands together as neatly or messily as they need, variously, to be. All our favourite heroes and villains and maybes will put in an appearance and some important questions never properly tackled in the T.V. show are answered over the course of the book series - of course books allow greater length and freedom to explore. Some of the books are better written than others, but they are generally decently crafted, easily readable, and a cut above some spin-off fiction from other series which has been farmed out to fans rather than writers who are fans. I would urge that readers get the whole series of eight books, settle in and enjoy. If you loved Stargate Atlantis on T.V., you'll love these books.

Well written & a good follow-on from the much missed TV series, as is "The Lost" (book 2), which I read prior to "Homecoming"..
I now need to purchase all the other books in the series to find out Dr Rodney McKay's fate, as he is my favourite character. The story is entertaining from start to finish and keeps you on the edge of your seat, not knowing if the Genii are going to double cross you or not.
If only all the other books in "The Legacy" series were not just available on ebooks, from my initial investigations into purchasing further books in the series on paperback. We do not all have Kindle or other forms of ebooks. I have had to purchase the paperback format for book 3 from the USA direct from Fandemonium Books.
If all the other books in this Legacy series are as good as the first two, then I will happily purchase them as well, one way or another, funds permitting.

I would definitely pick this up, or get it on your kindle or whatever the case maybe, but a few things first:

1 ) Start by watching the full series, this really picks up after series 5 of Atlantis finishes up.
2 ) Helps if you have seen SG1.
3 ) You are probably going to want to read the full series, that's all six books, just letting you know as each book ends in a cliffhanger of sorts and you will want to continue.
4 ) All six books are now available.
5 ) Sometimes the language is a wee bit off, but it shouldn't take away from your overall enjoyment of the series.

So with all of that in mind. Do enjoy.

It’s great to see the story continue but this book is really badly written.

The standard of spelling, punctuation and grammar are atrocious.

The story jumps from character and plot without warning.

No new paragraphs or page breaks to let you know the narrative has changed.

You’re reading and suddenly you think what the heck?

You have to flip back a page to realise the story has jumped from Rodney MacKay on Atlantis being the protagonist to a Genii character on another planet.

Without any line breaks or spaces.

The author needs some writing tips from George R R Martin about how to manage several character stories at once.
