A truly gorgeous cookbook - rich with powerful narratives from incredible women (some will make you cry), beautiful photos, and a diverse and enticing collection of recipes, which I can't wait to try. Forward by one of my favorite authors Isabel Allende. I love that all proceeds of this cookbook go to benefiting La Cocina, a non-profit in San Francisco that supports food entrepreneurs - primarily immigrant women and women of color. "Our vision is that everyone will be able to make a living doing what they love to do." With all the difficult news these days, these stories make me hopeful...as will Chef Elvia Buendia's tres leches cupcakes, I'm sure.

I can't recommend this "cook book" enough, primarily due to the fact that it is so much more than that! It's filled with incredible stories and vignettes, along with some incredible recipes from all around the world, each of which tells the story of people in search of opportunity. This book is a perfect addition to your kitchen, or as a gift to friends and family. My recommendation: Share these stories, enjoy this food, and support great organizations like La Cocina.

I couldn't love this cook book more. I love the stories as much as the recipes. This cookbook really does represent the world I want to love in. Thank you La Cocina for all you do. Through this cookbook I feel I am able to share some of the special world of La Cocina in my won home. This book will make a wonderful gift for everyone I know.
