Absolutely rubbish. I suffered weak characters throughout, hoping for a decent story. But no. An appalling end too.
My family works in the Metropolitan Police, so I’ve a good idea how things work....this terrible book had a police force so thick that I threw the book at the wall- and then, (in this stupid tale) the police who’d cocked up throughout ended up having champagne and cake with the central character - really?
Bad research (if any), loose story, poorly written, boring and pathetic ending....a waste of money and time. Save yourself; give this terrible book a wide berth!

I enjoyed the book until the last few chapters then it just appeared almost juvenile. Admissions made which just tied everything together, most of which was implausible.
The police just seemed incompetent with lots of drama and expletives without actually achieving anything.
I did find there was a lot of repetition in the book. Each chapter almost summarised what had happened in the last Chapter.
This was an acceptable read but not challenging in any way.

I cant tell you how disappointing this book was for me.
To be honest the start made me feel quite excited and felt this was a really interesting storyline that
really did capture my attention but, half way though it starts to feel really repetitive and just keeps recalling the same paragraphs but, changing alittle each time. By 3/4s of the way through I had enough. I felt I waisted time I'll never get back, on what I would call a crap read. Sorry just my opinion.

A year and a half ago, Gemma met the love of her life, Danny. Since then, their relationship has been like something out of a dream. But one Friday evening, Gemma returns home to find Danny is nowhere to be seen.
After two days with no word from her husband, Gemma turns to the police. She is horrified by what she discovers – a serial killer is on the loose in Bristol. When she sees the photos of the victims she is even more stunned … they all look just like Danny.
But the police aren’t convinced by Gemma’s story. Why has no one apart from Gemma seen or heard from Danny in weeks? Why is there barely a trace of him in their flat? Is she telling them the truth, or are there more secrets and lies in this marriage than meets the eye?

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuousluy.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

This is an engaging mystery thriller that had me hooked from the start. When Gemma returns home from work one day, husband Danny has disappeared. All of his possessions are still in the house but there’s no sign of Danny and no clue what’s happened to him. To make matters worse, two men who bear a strong physical resemblance to Danny have recently been murdered in the local area and as the police case progresses they begin to suspect Gemma herself.
There’s plenty to arouse the curiosity in this novel as mystery is piled upon mystery. Chapters focused on the police investigation are alternated with first person accounts from Gemma, a structure which works very well, as it allows us to empathise with Gemma’s emotional turmoil while also understanding why the police are putting her under pressure. The pace is good and it held my interest as questions begin to be answered, only for moe questions to be raised. I did have a hunch about what was actually going on and the hunch proved to be correct but it didn’t spoil the reading experience as I was interested in the why and how of the central deceit. My main criticism, which is not a huge issue, was that I felt the thing dragged on for too long after the truth had been revealed. The final section certainly wasn’t without drama, but I’d had the explanation by then and knew how it was all going to turn out, so lost interest a bit. Another small quibble was what I judged to be some token PC whereby the lead cop, a woman, was married to another woman and there were references to the wife wanting a baby and the police work interfering with the relationship. This was completely irrelevant to the main plot but thankfully there wasn’t too much of it. On the whole this was a great reading experience and I look forward to reading other books by this author.
