My daughter is not an enthusiastic solo reader but I bought this for her for international women's day and she absolutely loves it and has carried around reading it for the past week. We have already ordered 2 more copies for her friends. The women in the book come from all walks of life giving an amazing varied collection of role models to inspire girls. Highly recommended.

Per ora do 4 stelle sulla fiducia perché avevo acquistato il primo libro e mi era piaciuto tantissimo, ben rifinito, curato sia nella forma che nei contenuti. Devo dire la verità per quanto riguarda la forma di questo volume (perché i contenuti non li ho ancora approfonditi più di tanto) mi ha lasciato un pochino con l'amaro in bocca nel senso che il nastrino sembra un po' plasticoso mentre ho un po' paura ad aprire bene il libro in alcune pagine perché ho la sensazione che si possano staccare da un momento all'altro. È vero che l'ho trovato a forte sconto e quindi posso stare anche più attenta ma dietro c'è scritto il prezzo pieno che non è certo basso (almeno in sterline) e quindi credo che la qualità non debba risentirne.
In ultimo, voglio fare un appunto ad Amazon, allora non so se sono sfortunata io (può essere) ma non è possibile che gli ultimi libri che ho acquistato abbiano sempre qualche problema non so se è il trasporto, se è il prodotto fallato di suo, se è nel momento dell'impacchettamento, non lo so, però negli ultimi tre mesi ho comprato molti libri e su una quindicina se ne saranno salvati due o tre, perché? Se per la velocità e lo sconto devo avere un prodotto danneggiato allora andrò su altri siti (purtroppo per me in libreria non riesco ad andarci per motivi o altri e quindi devo per forza usare siti e-commerce). Fatemelo pagare di più ma lo voglio almeno accettabile e non posso sempre chiedere all'assistenza a un certo punto possono anche credere che li faccio apposta ma non è così. Perdonate lo sfogo ma uno store mondiale come Amazon, che può migliorare sia la qualità della vita dei suoi dipendenti sia il servizio, può effettivamente migliorare anche il controllo sui prodotti.

Questo secondo volume contiene più storie di donne contemporanee. Lo stile è uguale al primo. Vale la pena averli entrambi.

Libro molto bello peccato che mi sia accorta solo ora sfogliandolo che alcune pagine sono “staccate”, non è stato probabilmente rilegato bene. Peccato!

Ho acquistato il prodotto x farne un regalo ma la copertina rigida, che dovrebbe essere esteticamente la parte più bella, è arrivata rovinata, come sporca di colla o scotch, lo rendo o provo a sistemarlo... ci sto pensando ma è stata una delusione. Se vi serve da regalare, ordinate con largo anticipo così avrete il tempo di fare il reso e riordinarlo. Allego foto ma dal vivo si vede molto e anche al tatto si sente.

This book claims to leave a 'thrilling sense of possibility'. Getting away with lies? Exaggerating facts? Bad writing? Tick, tick, tick.
The very first page I opened was factually incorrect. I was going to give this book to a young girl, but if I told her about this one thing I noticed, why should I expect her to believe any of the other stories?
The book claims the Black Mambas (anti-poaching unit) were founded in 2007. In fact, they were founded in 2013. I can live with that.
But the punch line; "It took only a year of Black Mamba patrols for the snaring to disappear almost completely and the rhino killings to stop entirely."
Where did you get these facts? From the New York Social Diary? Because that's the only place I can find a similar statistic. Very Rebel.
The Black Mambas have done an absolutely brilliant job in REDUCING poaching and removing snares.
But the facts are (looking at the Kruger Park alone, because presumably you meant the area where the Black Mambas work):
In 2017 alone, overall poaching incidents in the park were 2,662; and 404 rhinos were poached. (Across South Africa, 1028 rhinos were poached.)
Savetherhino.org: "From 2007-2014, South Africa experienced an exponential rise in rhino poaching - a growth of over 9000%. Most illegal activity occurs in the Kruger National Park."

I'm so annoyed. I'm returning this book. I'll just continue to SHOW girls what a rebel girl is, instead of dishing up all this fluffy b/s.

This is the second book in a series about extraordinary, inspirational women from both the past and present. The hard cover book contains 100 bedtime stories and each page is illustrated by a different female artist from all over the world.
Our daughter is very interested in history and women’s history in particular. So this is right up here alley. She very much enjoyed the first book on this topic. and even bought the Goodnight stories for boys as well.
If she likes it that is great. For me having browsed through the books I find the one page summaries a bit unsatisfying, leaving out too many significant details, resulting in a somewhat incomplete and disjointed biography of well known women.
On the other hand, perhaps for young readers, these one-page stories are just about right to keep their interest. But I I also feel that the brief summaries do not do full justice to each of these women’s considerable accomplishments. The illustration are nice, again our daughter likes them. But they are generally a bit abstract, artistic, I would have appreciated photo’s or portraits I guess.

This is a continuation of the same winning formula of full page illustration plus accessible short biography showcasing notable women from around the world and through most of human history. It rectifies some of the most obvious omissions from the original by telling the stories of modern success stories like JK Rowling, Madonna, Beyonce, Ellen, Oprah and Angela Merkel. It introduces a wide range of women that you may not have heard about before, such as Temple Grandin (the professor/livestock engineer with autism), as well as many women who are already well known, from Nefertiti and Mata Hari to Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Mary Seacole, Rosalind Franklin, and Steffi Graf. There is an even greater diversity of stories, and the same engaging style that my 9 year olds loved.

There are quite a slew of books telling the stories of women that have come out of the last year or two, but as well as defining the genre, Rebel Girls has both the visual style and well-pitched and engaging narrative content that many of them lack. If you liked the first book, then this volume is a sequel you will probably likewise enjoy.

This was a present for my 9-year-old daughter and she does like it. It must be said that is wonderfully illustrated and nicely bound but I find the writing rather pedestrian, with not much flair and rather patronising. It also features a disproportionate number of Americans which didn't escape my daughter. Surely there have been numerous inspirational women from other parts of the world that could have been included in the book.

Our 11 year old devoured the first book and has now devoured the second. So great to read about all these inspirational women from such a mixture of backgrounds - Mother Theresa to Beyoncé, to Anglea Merkle .... Hoping there is a 3rd, 4th and 5th.
