Zorian Kazinski has all the time in the world to get stronger, and he plans on taking full advantage of it.

A teenage mage of humble birth and slightly above-average skill, Zorian is attending his third year of education at Cyoria's magical academy. A driven and quiet young man, he is consumed by a desire to ensure his own future and free himself of the influence of his family, resenting the Kazinskis for favoring his brothers over him. Consequently, Zorian has no time for pointless distractions, much less other people's problems.

As it happens, though, time is something he is about to get plenty of.

On the eve of Cyoria's annual summer festival, Zorian is murdered, then abruptly brought back to the beginning of the month, just before he was about to take the train to school. Finding himself trapped in a time loop with no clear end or exit, he will have to look both within and without to unravel the mystery set before him. He does have to unravel it, too, because the loop clearly wasn’t made for his sake, and in a world of magic even a time traveler isn't safe from those who wish him ill.

Fortunately for Zorian, repetition is the mother of learning…

Prendete l'idea del giorno della Marmotta (o meglio ancora All you need is kill) e mettetela in un setup fantasy e otterrete questo libro...
Al contrario dei suddetti, dove il personaggio principale migliora e il mondo sta fermo, in questo invece le ripercussioni sono molto più grosse. Da fan dei LitRPG mi è dispiaciuto non trovare statistiche, ma questo non ha di sicuro inficiato sulla qualità del libro. Aspetto la seconda parte.

Mother of Learning is already a hugely famous hit online, and this re-edited and polished version does not disappoint.

For those who have not read it, MOL is the definitive time-loop progression fantasy novel. You follow Zorian, a young mage with some rough edges who gets trapped in a single month at school, culminating in disaster that he tries to prevent though different actions.

What sets MOL from the copycats is a number of things:
1) The worldbuilding - it's deep but also retains a sense of mystery about certain aspects
2) Character development - Zorian is not actually that nice a person at the start, but his development is fantastic into a great protagonist
3) So many varied but well-developed magic systems

I have not compared this re-edited version to the original, but there's plenty of foreshadowing for those who are re-reading, and the plot feels tight and well integrated.

I was more than happy to purchase it in advance, despite reading it once already online. My only (selfish) complaint is the wait until ARC 2 is published.

A really good series. The first book does perhaps start off a bit slowly, but it gives you time to get to know the main character before the events of the series change him.

My only small complaint is the title. "Mother of learning" is never said in the story, it's never mentioned as a concept or anything - I honestly put off reading this series because it made me think there was going to be some old woman teaching people. My best guess is it's a phrase from another language which doesn't sound as good in English. Something like "Practice is the mother of learning" or similar, maybe? It would fit with the time loop story. It just bugs me.

Not bad, a little slow starting but inevitable for the protaginist. A good mix of Hogwarts, Groundhog day, a bit of dungeon delving and arachnaphillia (if I spelled it correctly)

Note the link in the back of the 'ebook' takes you to the US site where you can't give a review as you didn't buy it from there, or in my case there being no evidence (on the site) that I ordered anything at all from Amazon - don't know if thats good or bad really.

Mother of learning is a brilliant story that is well thought out having read the story before on FictionPress so much is set up in the first arc with questions and mysteries that hold up on rereading. This is a book that desevers to be pubsjed that creates a vibrant world with interesting characters. The exposition is well spread out and undetstable from a character like Zorian. Zorian is a good choice for protagonist as he is cunning and can't just Brite force problems. The time loop in this story has a good range and timeframe of a month which allows for small moments of progress with non looping characters. Short time loops mean the resources available to you are limited due to travel time. Can't wait for the next arc to be published

I finished this book in two sittings. Its a very easy and entertaining read.
Trying to come up with something to compare it with, I'd say a pinch of Magicians, a dash of Groundhog Day and a twist of Harry Potter.
The Groundhog Day aspect isn't nearly as reparative as I thought it would be.
I'm going to pick up the second book as soon as its available.
