I bought this book for my nephew who loves monsters, the reviews were great and the cover and illustrations I saw looked amazing. On receiving the book I had a quick look through and although it looks well written, the images are really dark and nightmarish and quite terrifying. Certainly not something I would give to a six year old!

If the pictures don't scare you/terrify your children it's probably a good book but I will unfortunately be sending my copy back. I don't normally write reviews but I might save the more tender souls the hassle of having to return.

This book is great. Includes all sorts of myths from all over the world. The art is fantastic and the way it is written is really engaging. Places the reader in the scene, imagining they are there with the creature. I would say though that it is quite scary. My daughter loves scary things and monsters etc, but this might not be suitable for a lot of younger children. The artwork on the cover gives a more lighthearted image than the artwork inside, which can be quite serious and scary. I didn’t check the age suitability so it’s my own fault, but it’s still a brilliant monster book and we are still able to read it as long as we’re selective . It’s something that will be kept on the shelf for years to come

A wonderful book! The illustrations are amazing and attention grabbing. The writing is exciting and insightful, and very much a new generation's answer to Usborne mysterious worlds, or Terry Deary's True Stories range of non fiction chills.

Very pleased with this well written book with amazing artwork. I read a few chapters to my son every night and he loves it. The writer has obviously spent a lot of time sourcing the stories and making them interesting. Money well spent.

My 6yo son, who adores all things creepy and terrifying, loves this book! Mythical monsters from cultures all over the world. Nice artwork, and background information on each mythical creature. There is plenty to keep adults interested too. Decent quality paper, hardback, it was worth every penny.
