JA Andrews is a writer, wife, mother, and unemployed rocket scientist. She doesn't regret the rocket science degree, but finds it generally inapplicable in daily life. Except for the rare occurrence of her being able to definitively state, "That's not rocket science." She does, however, love the stars. Gosh - I really didn't see this one coming. Every bit as fabulous as the first in series A Threat of Shadows (The Keeper Chronicles Book 1) , but this one has such a light touch, showing off Ms Andrew's ability to craft a perfectly credible coming-of-age love story in a fantasy setting just as easily as she engineers a LoTR-style epic adventure. Awesome characters - phenomenal descriptions - I can still picture many scenes (like escaping via the river), many moons later.
My only complaint - there aren't enough JA Andrews stories in the world.

Absolutely fantastic book. Tomkin is a lot like every writer, he spends his days daydreaming about the adventures he will have or what he wants to write about, Tomkin touched my amateur writers heart.
It was an absolute pleasure to read this book I highly recommend it.
I am actually kind of sad that there isn't more Tomkin and Mags.
I can see them going on a lot of adventures together.
I don't want to give the plot away just pick up the book and read it you won't regret it.

I got this because lots of references to it in The Keepers Chronicles (which by the way is excellent) . I've only read a few pages but you know when a book is going to be great so I'm trying not to rush it.

This lovely tale about Tomkin & the Dragon had everything a good fairy tale should have. A hero, a damsel (not) in distress, a fairy & lastly a dragon.
It weaves in & out & you can feel that frisson of terror that all good fairy tales should have before ending on a high note.
The characters are people I would like to know. It's a story for young & old who love fairy tales

Really enjoyed this novel.
Got very engrossed as characters are well structured and could relate to them.
Very good read and found it difficult to put the kindle down at times
This is the kind of story I like, one I know I shall be reading all over again.
