This book will haunt you. I guarantee it. You will think about it now and then and you will have to regain your composure. It might even give you a few nightmares.
When I finished it , I sat there stunned.
This book will leave you feeling like you looked in a mirror and saw all that was behind you reflected--- and nothing else. Makes you want to run screaming into the night.
Della is a great talent. She is very diverse. And she tells tales that tweak your nerve endings and make you think out of the box. She can write a story that can enchant you and also creep you out.
She does both with this one.
Her prose is magnificent as usual. So much so that you are there in that world with her characters and sometimes it is a seriously unpleasant place to be.
Many futuristic stories have been written about post apocalyptic earth. But none like this one.
She discards every belief , every concept the human mind has held since the beginning , and then gives us a hero of sorts to search for the justification of human life on earth or anywhere else. A constant seeker who will never rest.
This is a somber and frightening view of the human race. Perhaps a lesson to be learned as well.
This is a bit of both.
