Angie, 6, and sister Polly, 4, are utterly distraught when they arrive to stay with foster carer Cathy Glass. Their older half-sister Ashleigh has accused their father of something horrible, and the two young sisters have been removed from home to keep them safe.

Cathy has been a foster carer for over 25 years, during which time she has looked after more than 100 children, of all ages and backgrounds. She has three teenage children of her own; one of whom was adopted after a long-term foster placement. The name Cathy Glass is a pseudonym.

Cathy has written 16 books, including bestselling memoirs Cut, Hidden and Mummy Told Me Not To Tell.

Oh dear! - Another book which should have been entitled "The Cathy Glass Diary". It's such a shame - Cathy's earlier books were interesting, well-written stories of the various children she'd fostered, with details of why they came to be in her care and the events that took place whilst they were living with her. But sadly her recent books have all become, dare I say it, frankly boring. Simply long lists of how well she'd looked after them, all the meetings she attended, how helpful her wonderful daughter Paula had been - and this latest one is about the worst yet. The reason why these two little girls came to live with her is, to say the least, unlikely; their step-sister had complained that her step-father had abused her; there was no evidence or proof of any sort and the two little girls knew nothing about it and were perfectly happy - but they were both immediately taken from their home and sent to live with Cathy. There then followed long and tedious reports of her conversations with her Social Services colleagues, the meetings she attended and her daily "logs" ...... The events were obviously very recent as she mentioned interminably about how she'd followed all the Covid rules; she never left the house without wearing a face mask, maintaining social distancing wherever she went etc - Cathy, we all did this; there was no need to inform us on every page about how good you'd been! And the ending to be the book was completely predictable and unexciting. Sorry Cathy, but perhaps it's time that you woke up to the fact that you aren't Samuel Pepys, and you should go back to your earlier style of writing, which was much more interesting and far more enjoyable reading.

Well, Cathy did it again. I cried. Every. Single. Time. Every book that Cathy has written has made me shed tears.

Brilliantly written. I fell in love with Angie and Polly straight away. I felt for the poor souls, but I knew they would settle with Cathy quickly.

I was shocked with the allegations their sister had made, and I was shocked again when the truth finally came out.

It wasn’t nice for the two young girls, but they had a happy ending, for sure.

I can’t wait to read what Cathy writes next.

I have read all of Cathy's books and will continue to do so, but this really isn't the best
It's very long winded and includes more filler than actual story. It's a very sad story for the family, but I don't think enough was given about Ashleigh and why she did what she did. It was a bit strange.
Would have been better off as a short story imvho

I feel different to how I usually feel after reading a Cathy Glass book. It was brilliantly written as usual. I think it was just the story in general. Normally I feel a little bit of joy that a child has the chance of a better life, but this one I just feel sadness that it happened in the first place. Sad reality that this happens a lot more than we tend to realise. A story that needed to be told to raise awareness if anything (without giving away any spoilers)

I have read all of Cathy's books and loved following her and her family, I feel as though I know them. This time we follow Cathy as she fosters Angie and her sister Polly, they arrive and have to be fostered by Cathy because of what their older sister Ashleigh has accused their father of. The girls are young and understandably distraught at the thought of leaving their parents and their home. But as usual Cathy is absolutely brilliant with them and has such a heart of gold. All the stories are sad, but they really drive home that there are children suffering in the world. Also it was interesting to see what fostering is like in Covid times. Great catch up with Cathy and her family. Look forward to the next book.
