Gripping but not heavy going! Wonderful!

This is third book in the series and I feel, the most gripping yet. The book is a ‘cosy crime’ book so whilst it has all the twists and psychological suspense of a murder mystery, the gore is minimal which I love! Once again, the author had me chuckling aloud in places as the loveable, main character, Cora shares snippets of life as a roving reporter. The balance between the suspense and light hearted narrative about the characters is, for me, perfect. This is a satisfying who dunnit in terms of, the clues are there but it’s not obvious from the outset. In fact, I was still guessing by the last chapter. I received this book on Friday afternoon and had it finished Sunday afternoon despite life getting in the way of reading. It’s a page turner and I defy anybody to not get hooked within the first chapter. I really hope there are more Cora Baxter mysteries.

I don't often not see a book through to the end, but I just couldn't get into it. I didn't like the style of writing, and unfortunately gave up around chapter 5 or 6. I loved Jackie's other 2 books, Am I Guilty and The Perfect Couple, but this one did nothing for me.

Yes have enjoyed reading all of Jackie Kablers books. Looking forward to her new release end of May. This trilogy is a bit predictable but still enjoyed the reads.

I read lots of crime fiction and this is something a bit different. A proper 'whodunnit' following the investigation process but with a main character, Cora, who is not a detective but works in TV. It's obvious that the author know this world very well which adds authenticity and a lot of humour to the story, this really made me laugh in places. I've read all three books in this series and would definitely recommend them all for a perfect summer read.
