I got these for snowshoeing, but before we even got enough snow on the mountain, I got to try them out because my heater broke. These are keeping me warm enough to be comfortable until I can get my heater replaced.
I have a larger rear end (wear size 16 on bottom and 14 on top) and always wear a size XL in stretchy things like this, so I ordered an XL in this. It turns out that I actually needed a large. When I tried them on the "butt" part fit ok on me (might be baggy on someone with a flatter rear end) but for some reason from the lower thigh area down it is really baggy - like regular pants- and then it gets fitted again at the ankle. Weird. I washed them to see if they would shrink up in the dryer, but no deal. Synthetic material doest shrink. I would have exchanged them for a large but I'm leaving on a trip soon and don't have time to wait for the new package. I was hoping to wear these as leggings, but NOT with the baggy calf thing going on. Take it from me - order a size smaller than you usually do .
I love these! I have a thyroid problem which causes issues in regulating body temperature. My legs and feet have been cold whenever I sit. These fit under jeans and are super soft and comfortable. I originally got them for working outside but I ended up just wearing them all the time, including sleeping. I generally hate pants while sleeping. I should have gotten these a month ago. I have to get more! I have lost a lot of weight over the past few months and currently wear a size 20. I chose XL and could probably have gone with a size smaller. I might have gone down another size though. I also have a broken drier so they hang dry. I would suggest maybe going down a size if you will not be using a drier. They stretch a little width wise, however they still fit great under pants. I've had them for about 2 weeks now.
I purchased this for a business trip in DC when I found out it was going to be 0 degree there. The material is thicker than the other pair I have from 32 degree but for whatever reasons it feels a little itchy (and yes I did wash it prior to wearing it the first time) when I wear it. It does do the job and keep me warm though ... but just know that you might experience some itchiness while being kept warm.
Bang for the buck, these are a great buy. I used them while hiking in, at times, sub-freezing weather. They are comparable to other base-layer pants, but are going to be heavier than some of the high-dollar brands. After 500 miles of hiking (wearing these off and on, and at night), they held up. There were no rips, the seams are still intact, and there is no 'pilling' of the material. Once the temperature got above 40, they were actually to warm at times. For the price, if you aren't shooting for ultra-lightweight gear, these are a steal. I don't wear them away from the trail, but I think they would do well as a warm layer under regular clothes too, as long as your clothing is a bit loose, because these pants aren't the thinnest things.
I love these so much! I've had them for almost two years, and they're still in awesome condition. I wore them to walk to class from my apartment in 15°F weather and while I was seven months pregnant. They don't add very much bulk and can be worn under dresses/skirts without looking trashy. I love them so much I got a pair for a friend when she moved to the Midwest. These are the only base layer bottoms my husband and I buy
I've been wearing these the last few months under my biking gear. They do a wonderful job of keeping me warm. They're a thin and light weight material, but also very warm. As they're very light, you can wear them under jeans and slacks without affecting the fit. I find I can't pull them up as high as is shown in the picture. Mine stop at about my hips. The pictures make them look high waisted, so I'm taking a star off here. The other star off is because mine came with a very long, and very ratty threaded knot on the inside of the left thigh. The knot is sewn into the seam there, so I've been nervous to cut it off in case doing so makes the seam give.
So over-all, these aren't high waisted and there seems to be some quality control issues. Otherwise, they're wonderful for keeping warm.
I ordered a 1X, (5' tall, 200lbs) and they fit a little loose even after washing and drying in machine a few times. I'm fine with this as I didn't want them skin tight. A bit long (everything is on me) but that's ok, I've learned to live with it. Very warm to me, (40 yrs in Miami, FL now northern VA) as I'm still acclimating to different weather. There is enough wool in it to keep you warm but inner layer is not scratchy at all to me. Actually warmer than mid weight set from LLBEAN and much less expensive. Good deal all around.
Warm, stretchy, very soft and thin enough to wear under regular pants. I could have ordered a size smaller, but i kept the larger size. I wear them while milking cows and doing other farm chores. They’ve been part of lots of layers (it’s been -60 with windchill) and they are warmer than my other pairs of long underwear. They are now my go-to when it’s really cold—and most other times!
