This is the perfect compliment to the author’s first Chicken Little book! The students cheered when it arrived in our school mail! It was passed from classroom to classroom. Children need this message as they learn how to sift through current events. The images are playful while the words dance out of your mouth.

My kids absolutely loved this book. It’s about acceptance and not judging a person by the way they look. Relatable & funny with a positive message. Would highly recommend!

We pre-read all books before we gift them or read them with the kids in our life. I wanted to love this book. I read it three times and struggled so badly I have been thinking about this story in the back of my mind for the last week. I'm sorry Sam, this book was simply a miss for our house.

I am giving this book three stars because the illustrations are lovely. The colors are vibrant and the text is well drawn and brings the reader in.

The problem we have is the story itself.

Spoilers ahead: The chickens discovers the wolf. The other chickens want to leave the barnyard. The brave chicken decides to investigate this wolf and discovers the wolf is just misunderstood. The wolf does yoga, is a vegetarian and is extremely passive. The brave chicken spreads the word. The chickens have a party for the wolf and they all become friends. The end.

The moral of the story - don't judge anyone by their appearance, have a dinner party, be friends and life will be perfect.

I appreciate a really good kids book that tells a sweet story with a moral and lesson. I am not exactly sure what, but this book is missing something. Maybe I have met too many condescending yogi vegetarians and I could not quite eliminate the fear that the wolf was going to have a relapse in judgement one afternoon and the chickens were going to become lunch.
