I had previously read all of Thurkills novels, and hadn’t realised that this was written by the same author, until the authors notes at the end. Apart from the clearly obvious love of the writing of Paul Bernardi. This was a wonderful historical novel in itself. A unique storyline when it comes to historical novels. Although I devour them, they can often share similar story patterns. This was a heartwarming, and action packed novel right from the start. I never put this one down. Whenever I had a few minutes spare, I went straight to it. Would recommend it twice over. Thank you for the exciting escapism.

I have read the Hurscarl Chonicles by Paul Bernardi, a series I thoroughly enjoyed. But, taking nothing away from Thurkill, Blood Price is the authors very best work to date. The plot gripped me as it twisted and turned through the medieval times of King Knuts rule. The characters are wonderfully cast (Acwel my personal favourite). The writing style is fairly modern yet balanced against the language of the day. This made me feel I was actually living in that period, somehow connected to Sihtric. As with all of Paul Bernardi's work the ending is just brilliant (so clever) yet disappointing (no more pages to turn). HUGELY RECOMMENDED.

A good story, well-told, set firmly in its time and brought to life by a deft hand. A real pleasure to read, my first but definitely not last book by this author.

A wonderful read from start to finish! I’m usually drawn to more modern day fiction so wasn’t sure if this would be for me… how wrong I was! I couldn’t put it down! Brilliant story line, endearing characters and totally gripping. I both laughed and cried. Looking forward to read more from Paul Bernardi, I will definitely be ordering the Thurkill trilogy! Highly recommend!!
